LeBron Raymone James Sr. (born December 30 1984) is an American professional basketball star who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is known as King James he is widely thought of as one of the most successful basketball players ever and has often been compared with Michael Jordan in debates over the greatest basketball player ever. James had two Olympic golds and four NBA titles. James had more points than any other player during the playoffs. He has the second most points in his career and ranks seventh among career assists. He was named by the NBA All-Star 18 times to the All-NBA Team a record 18 times, and was named for be named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team five times. He has played in ten NBA Finals, the most of any player in history. He was a part of eight continuously from 2011 through 2018. In 2021, James was chosen to be part of make the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, and in 2022 became the only to be the first player from NBA history to have accumulated 10,000 or more points over the course of his career as well as assists. James was born in Akron Ohio, played basketball at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. National media celebrated him as a possibility NBA star. An aspiring pro, he was selected by Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall selection in the 2003 NBA draft. Named the 2004 NBA Rookie of Year the player quickly became one of the best league athletes, winning an NBA MVP award in 2009 and 2010. James didn't win the award with Cleveland, and he left the city with the status of"a "free agent" in the year 2010. This move was made during the television special The Decision.
