Nadia Elena Comaneci
She grabbed international recognition and admiration when she gave the world one of its greatest moments in the history of sport - scoring the first-ever perfect ten on asymmetric bars, at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. Furthermore, she scored six more 10s perfect and made her 14 years of young, the youngest Olympic medallist in every category. Comaneci didn't just get international attention, but she also helped put Romania in the spotlight. A sports legend came into spotlight by achieving an unachievable score, thus becoming a hero and spreading the word about the sport of gymnastics across the world. It also changed people's perception about female gymnasts. This was due to the effect she made during the Olympics and the release move that both move toe-on (toes on) and release were named in her honor. They have remained, until today, as difficult. She also performed well at World Championships, European Championships and the Olympics. That led to her becoming a legend and she is one of the most famous gymnasts in the world. Also, she modelled and promoted the sport of gymnastics after making the move from the US.
